Ištrauka
he most intriguing aspect of mechanical engineering or any discipline of engineering, in my opinion, is the ability to express one’s creativity through sheer logic and understanding of Math, Physics or Chemistry. I have always had a keen interest in the brilliance of the subject and questions such as “How can Tesla’s Model X accelerate faster than a car with an internal-combustion engine?” or “Why did the landing gear of Falcon 9 malfunctioned during its failed landing?” captivates my mind. Consequently, by choosing this subject I can quench the thirst of knowledge and hopefully create something that will let the wheel of technological progress spin faster.
I am currently studying in Kaunas University of Technology gymnasium, which provides the best studying environment to develop crucial academic qualities such as time management and dedication to one’s studies. Additionally, the school specializes in natural sciences and Mathematics, thus allowing the students to gain extended knowledge of the subjects. During the years in the gymnasium I gradually changed my perception of the academia and strengthened my resolution to pursue a degree in engineering. Furthermore, by choosing A levels in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and receiving the highest evaluation in them I have deepened my knowledge of nature that I deem very important in mechanical engineering. For example, in year 10 as extracurricular activity under my Physics teacher’s supervision, I learnt about the measurement errors and how to correctly measure mass, length, radius or volume of an object. This observation allowed me to peek into the world of engineering and understand the importance of precision because a simple error can result in the malfunctioning of a part or a whole mechanism.
